Help with stock feeder

I need help setting up my stock feeder on our Delta RT31, some shops have said that is never a good idea to mount the feeder in a extension wing bolted to the main table. But I've seen lots of shops doing just that. The feeder will be use primarily to rip hard maple boards to 2", where would be a good place to drill holes for the base? Also should I have a different plug or should the feeder be wire to the table saw box?
