I've used wool lube and 0000 wool on several true oil gun stocks for a satin finish. Was pleased with the results.
For a table I've used the arm seal satin and I'd like to really smooth it from dust nibs / I'm happy with the satin look but concerned that the wool and lube might end up with a less uniform appearance? I suspect that the rub out will dull the satin a bit more? (Than the dried satin by itself)
Much has to do with the skill out the rub out, but I wonder if a brown paper sack might be a better option to minimize the sheen?
And lastly what's a safe number of days for the sack and/or the wool with 70 deg. F?
The project is a coffee table - as I'm really not changing the sheen much, I'd think doing the top is all the I really need to do.
