I have build a toy box for my son and am now finishing the top for the box. The top is made out of maple and I am staining the top a dark brown. I have never worked with maple before but have heard many times that it can be a difficult wood to finish so that has gotten me scared. I did alot of reading online and quite a few people have recommened SW BAC wiping stain so I went to the SW store today and picked up a quart. I asked the kid behind the counter if I can use any poly to top coat and he said yes. But after doing some more reading it appears this stain needs a spray on top coat vs a wipe on. Does anybody have any experience with this stain and what would you recommend? Thanks.
Any suggestions what to apply ontop of SW BAC wiping stain?
